Blog 6- KSU Sentinel

KSU Sentinel
Going back to archives, I have been able to find many articles about the concerns at Kennesaw State University. Some of these concerns affect everyone at Kennesaw State University. These concerns are parking, campus carry for guns, and smoking. In the article that I read that was archived, I found that many students on campus found that smoking was a major issue concerning the university and still is. In fact, some of the articles indicated that the smoking was prevalent when walking on campus and around the fountain by the University Village Suites dorms. Lately, it has seemed that the smoking has died down. Many have issues with the smoking ban currently on campus because some people violate the rules and they are not punished because of it. Another issue is parking. This has long been an issue at Kennesaw State University many are affected by it because they can’t find parking for sometimes up to 40 minutes. The problem has even become more profound as the merge with Southern Polytechnic State University has created even more of a hassle because a new deck has not been built. The population at campus has drastically increased and no solution has been created in order to solve the parking issue. The final issue that I have seen is the campus carry bill. This bill would allow anyone over the age of 21 with a license to carry to have a weapon at the school. Many have said that it is their right to bear arms and many have said that allowing this would diminish the educational advancement at Kennesaw State University. It has been a struggle and it will be finally seen if this will be the case when Governor Nathan Deal has the option to sign the bill into the law or refuse to sign it into law.
